Health Link - a program that provides culturally
and linguistically appropriate health education materials on
general health and women's health. It provides assistance with
doctor appointments, completing medical forms, understanding
health terms, documents and letters received as well as increasing
knowledge about behavior health and preventative care.

Refugee
Elderly Service - This is a program provides translation
and transportation to the East African elders in San
Diego. International Rescue Committee, Union of Pan-Asian
Communities,
Jewish Family Services and Horn of Africa are the collaborative
partners.

Refugee
Employment Services - These programs helps refugee that
has been in the country less than 60 months
find suitable employment or training. International
Rescue Committee, Union
of Pan-Asian Communities, Jewish Family Services
and Horn of Africa are the collaborative partners.

HIV
Awareness Campaign - A program funded by the Federal Government
that offers services to
HIV affected families. University of
California in San Diego (UCSD) and Horn
of Africa are the collaborative partners in this important
program. This is part of the RYAN
White ACT.

TB
Eradication project - A program funded by the Annie Casey
Foundation through the County of San
Diego TB control. This
program targets in identifying if any of the
incoming refugees or immigrants are infected with TB. It
also provides education
to families in how to protect themselves in
case
they come into contact with an infected individual.
Our other collaborative
partners are Catholic Charities of San Diego,
Africacorp, and Nile Sisters Development Initiative.

East
African Youth - a program funded by the California
Endowment along with STARPAL that focuses on violence
prevention and
academic performance for Somali Youth that attend
Junior High and High School. STARPAL is the lead
and fiscal agency.

Community
Collaborative Program - a program funded by the Office
of Refugee resettlement
whose aim is to develop leaders in
the African Community in San
Diego. AfricaCorps and Multi-cultural Child Development
Center are
the other two partners. This
program started on October 2003.

City
Heights Sewing Project - This program is designed
to help women of immigrant
and refugee background
learn the sewing
skills necessary to make
clothes for themselves, their families,
and potentially start their
own
small businesses or gain
employment in sewing-related fields. The
program provides the members
the use of industrial and
home sewing
machines, workspace,
expert training, and basic
materials. This is a collaborative
project between the Horn
of Africa,
the Rotary club, Center
for Community Solutions and SAY San Diego.
